HARROW BRANCH AGM MOTION CALL’S AN END TO THE NATIONAL PAY FREEZE

Members at the Harrow Branch AGM convened on 20th March 2013 unanimously passed three important motions and witnessed a good debate between the Leader of the Conservative Group, Cllr Susan Hall and Labour Portfolio Holder Cllr Keith Ferry who were invited to address the meeting.

 Harrows Councillors deliver a slap in the face to staff as former Leader reneges on Allowance reduction promise

As over 500 Council staff including Librarians, Park Keepers, Meals on Wheels drivers and Residential Care workers prepare themselves for cuts in salary of up to 50% (not including those Council workers earning over £21,000 whose pay will be reduced by 1% next year), Harrow Councils politicians voted unanimously to exclude themselves from any cut in their own personal Member Allowances.

BALLOT RESULT

UNISON & GMB MEMBERS ACCEPT CHANGES TO TERMS & CONDITIONS

In the ballot on changes to Harrow Council terms and conditions, UNISON and GMB members voted unanimously in favour to accept the new proposals which will take place as from January 2013. 

The UNISON ballot witnessed 69% of members in favour of the new hybrid agreement on a turnout of 27%.  GMB members also voted unanimously in favour by 71%. 

We thank all those members who took part in the ballot and we will be working hard to finalise the agreement with the employer prior to its implementation in January 2013.
