HUT training courses represent excellent Value for money in that they are delivered by an experienced and qualified trainer(s) often utilising PowerPoint presentations from externally accredited organisations such as The Royal Society for Public Health etc.Course materials are obtained from a wide variety of sources including HSE, Unison, TUC and Highfield publications. Often courses are provided FOC to Unison activists, but where there is a cost to the branch a minimal charge is made to cover that cost on a non profit making basis. All courses are undertaken on a half day basis with the exception of externally accredited courses. Where more detailed information is required courses can be adapted to run over a full day.

Training - Home Worker Training

With remote and home working clearly on the agenda this course has been developed for staff that works within their own home environment. The module specifically tackles the issues required on the potential risks associated with working in the home.

Training - Food Hygiene

Harrow Unison’s Food hygiene module has been developed to be an effective guide to the Food Hygiene Regulations and an ideal training aid to ensure that any individual working with food receives suitable and adequate training in respect of good food safety and personal hygiene practices.

Harrow Unison Essentials for Computer Operators training course has been developed to provide employees with an informative approach to the risks associated with Display Screen work and the knowledge of how ergonomic principles can be adopted to reduce some of the risks encountered.

Training - Driver Safety

Safety on the road must be high on the list of priorities for any employer - to assist in this area; Harrow Unison Health and Safety have produced a Driver Safety training course. This module will reinforce safe driving techniques and provide information on the hazards peripatetic employees may encounter whilst on the road.

Training - Manual Handling

If  staff are undertaking potentially hazardous manual handling activities, then it is a Legal requirement under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations to ensure that effective training is provided and a manual handling risk assessment is undertaken where such tasks cannot be avoided.
