Training - Confined Spaces

The course provides comprehensive information about working in confined spaces. A confined space can be any space of an enclosed nature where there is a risk of death or serious injury from hazardous substances or dangerous

conditions for example lack of oxygen. Some places only become ‘confined spaces’ when work is carried out, or during construction, maintenance or modification.

Learning outcomes

Candidates will be aware of the basic checks and procedures to ensure safe working practices are followed when confined spaces are entered. Candidates will also have an appreciation of the requirements of The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 Regulations.

• The legal requirements regarding confined spaces

• Lack of oxygen

• Poisonous fumes and vapours

• Fire and explosions

• Residues in tanks or vessels or which impregnate internal surfaces

• Dust and heat

• Detection methods and PPE

• Safe systems of work
