MEMBERS CALL ON HARROW COUNCIL TO URGENTLY RESUME NEGOTIATIONS

In a lively meeting which sent shockwaves through the corridors of the Civic Centre, members called on the Council to urgently re-commence talks with the assistance of the conciliation service ACAS in order to reach a fair and balanced agreement.

A second motion called on the removal of non-teaching staff from the ‘Modernisation’ of terms and conditions negotiations.

Our non-teaching members in schools are being penalised for Council overspending when schools budgets are ring-fenced and allocated from central government.  This means that any savings made from schools and their staff will not be re-invested back into educating our young people but will be used to plug this Council’s spending gap which is immoral and could also bring the Council into financial disrepute.

Our members voted unanimously in favour of this motion calling on the removal of schools staff and an investigation into the failings of senior Council Officers in recommending this ill-advised course of action.
