Unison’s Branch Secretary Returns Create Award

The Branch Secretary has conveyed his disappointment at the way lower graded members of staff are being treated in this time of austerity especially when decisions made in council policy and procedural matters are defined by senior officers as “Less than Satisfactory”. Our Branch Secretary firmly believes that the authority should remove the level of protectionism for senior managers, especially when tacit complicit of poor practice. He has not taken this decision lightly but in view of all recent events he feels that he is left with no alternative but to return the award.

Unison LG branch has a high moral standing in the representation of their membership, which is another reason to return the award.

Finally, he would like to thank the membership for all the support they have given him to date for the four year period of his tenure and hopefully for the anticipated future. There is much work yet to be done.

The CREATE Awards are a great way to thank our staff, who continue to strive for excellence in all they do. The judges have told me that the nominations were of a very high standard, which made choosing a winner extremely difficult!”
